Actuarial Journey Update #6
The last Actuarial Journey Update was published at the end of March. Since then, I managed to retake one of the exams and rethink my plan for the rest of the year.
Here are my status, thoughts, and next goals:
Status
Polish exams passed: 1 of 9
SOA/CAS exams passed: 2 of 9
CAS Online Courses: 2 of 3
CAS Course on Professionalism: 0 of 1
VEEs: 0 of 2
Passion: After a long break from studying in March, I had to get back to the “zone”. It was not easy, but step by step, I got back to learning, and here I am. Still passionate about actuarial science, eager to learn, and focused on achieving my goals.
Exam-Life Balance: In addition to my everyday job, personal activities, gym sessions, and dance classes, I found time to study. Before retaking the CAS DISC RM exam, I spent more time on revision, but it was not as intensive as before the SOA FM exam for sure.
Thoughts
I’m happy that I completed the CAS DISC RM online course by passing the course-ending exam!
Last time in February, I did not study appropriately to pass the exam. I was trying to read only the Study Outlines from the course, which was not enough.
Some questions specifically are about the text in the Assignments materials. Therefore, reading thoroughly each chapter helps a lot in answering questions.
After reading the materials and also making some notes, I completed the chapter quizzes a couple of times. I stopped doing them when I got 100% enough times to feel confident about a given topic.
Besides the CAS DISC RM online course, I’m still studying for the MAS-I exam. I think I’ll finish sometime in June and then begin practicing.
Next Goals
As the CAS DISC RM is completed, the remaining online course by CAS is CAS DISC IA. It covers topics related to insurance coverage, insurance policy, insurance law, and insurance regulations in the United States.
Therefore, I’ll try to complete it, as these topics are in some way a natural progression after risk management, insurance, and insurance activities.
Then, the MAS-I exam session takes place in August. For now, I’m planning to take this exam in that time.
Lastly, the date for the next Polish actuarial exams was announced to be the 6th- 7th of October 2025. I still have a lot of time, but I’ll prepare study materials, and start learning soon. I’m planning to attempt more than one exam.
