Actuarial Journey Update #8

This is the first update since I moved to Warsaw. Moving out gave me an additional boost of motivation to study and to continue my actuarial journey.

Here are my status, thoughts, and next goals:

Status

Polish exams passed: 1 of 9

SOA/CAS exams passed: 2 of 9

CAS Online Courses: 3 of 3

CAS Course on Professionalism: 0 of 1

VEEs: 1 of 2

Passion: It grew, and helps a lot during days when I have much to do or I’m tired.

Exam-Life Balance: The upcoming months before the October exam sessions will be tough — and the exam–life balance will be a bit unbalanced. Sometimes finding time to study between work, sleep, and everyday life is challenging. But I hope that even studying for just a couple of minutes will help in the long run!

Thoughts

As I mentioned earlier, I got an extra boost of motivation after moving to Warsaw.

I completed and passed the final CAS DISC online course, CAS DISC IA.

I’m working in the insurance industry, learning new skills, and I also have the opportunity to apply the knowledge I’ve already gained.

I feel like I’m on the right path.

Of course, there are uncertainties about whether becoming a licensed actuary makes sense.

The role of AI in the actuarial profession (for now, it seems to support actuaries rather than replace them), a potentially unstable economy, and even the risk of global conflict are scenarios I think about and often see discussed in the news and online articles.

But these are things I cannot control.

What I can control are my skills, career, and life.

That’s why I’ll continue studying and taking actuarial exams to obtain both Polish and CAS actuarial credentials in the coming years.

Next Goals

The next goals stay the same as before:

  • Pass at least two Polish actuarial exams in October.

  • Pass the MAS-I exam in October.
